As most of us know, on September 11, 2012, the U.S. Consulate in Benghazi, Libya, was under siege.

Glen, who was in Tripoli at the time, voluntarily boarded a plane with his friend and colleague, Tyrone Woods, to support the besieged consulate.

Amidst the chaos, Glen and Tyrone fought valiantly to defend the American personnel trapped inside.

Despite their extraordinary courage and resilience, both men tragically lost their lives in the attack.

Glen was 42 years old, and Tyrone was 41.

Glen’s sacrifice resonated with many, reminding them of the real cost of freedom and the bravery of those who stand guard.

Back in his hometown, the Glen Doherty Memorial Foundation, affectionately called DGMF, was established to provide current and former special operations professionals, from all branches of the government, the means necessary to transition and succeed in civilian life.

The foundation also supports other charitable causes that Glen was passionate about.

Glen “Bub” Doherty’s legacy continues to shine brightly, not just in Winchester or the Navy SEAL community but across the nation.

His tale is one of selfless sacrifice, fierce loyalty, and an unwavering commitment to duty.

Through his story, many are reminded of the price of freedom and the heroes willing to pay that price for the greater good.
